OVERVIEW

Monarch Racing is proud to present this exciting two-year-old colt by Australian Champion Sire Zoustar, out of the Gr.3-placed Soldier Hollow mare Clear For Take Off (GB). Personally selected by Jason Micallef, this striking grey colt combines elite Australian sprinting bloodlines with a European maternal family rich in stakes performance and juvenile ability.

His dam was a winner at two and is a half-sister to Gr.3 winner and multiple Gr.1 placegetter Calyxa, while his grandam Chantra was a dual Listed winner who also scored as a juvenile. This depth provides an appealing foundation for a colt whose pedigree offers both early potential and scope to develop at three and beyond.

BOBS eligible, he presents an exciting opportunity to join Monarch Racing in ownership of a personally selected son of Zoustar, backed by proven performers across successive generations.

SIRE: ZOUSTAR

A son of Northern Meteor out of the Redoute’s Choice mare Zouzou, Zoustar was an outstanding racehorse whose six victories included the Gr.1 Golden Rose and Gr.1 Coolmore Stud Stakes. He demonstrated his quality early, winning three races at two, including the Gr.2 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes, and finishing runner-up in the Gr.1 JJ Atkins Stakes.

Standing at Widden Stud, Zoustar was crowned Australian Champion Sire in 2024/25 and has produced more than 80 stakes winners. His outstanding progeny include Sunlight, Joliestar, Zougotcha, Ozzmosis and Schwarz, while international Gr.1 winners Lezoo and Starlust underline his ability to produce elite performers in both hemispheres.

His record encompasses precocious juveniles, top-class sprinters and accomplished milers, making him an appealing sire for owners seeking early potential alongside the prospect of continued development. This colt offers access to an established stallion whose success is demonstrated at the highest level of racing.

DAM: CLEAR FOR TAKE OFF (GB)

A daughter of Soldier Hollow, Clear For Take Off won three races from 1400 to 2200 metres, including a victory at two. She earned black type through placings in the Gr.3 Hamburg Sparkasse Holstein Cup, Hannover’s Listed Grosser Preis der Privatbank ODDO BHF and the Listed Hoppegartener Sprint Cup.

Her record combines juvenile ability with the versatility to succeed over longer distances as she matured. She is also a half-sister to Calyxa, a Gr.3 winner who repeatedly performed with distinction in Gr.1 company, providing a strong connection to quality European form.

This colt is her third foal. She has already produced Clear Blue Day, a son of Blue Point who won over 1400 metres in Australia during the 2025/26 season. Her own racing ability, immediate family and early record as a producer make her an attractive complement to Zoustar’s proven speed.

SECOND DAM: CHANTRA

By Lando, Chantra won three races at 1400 and 1600 metres, including a victory at two and two Listed successes in Germany. She also finished second in the Gr.3 Prix de la Porte Maillot at Longchamp and earned further Listed placings in France, demonstrating quality beyond her home country.

Chantra has produced five winners from five runners recorded in the supplied pedigree. Her standout daughter, Calyxa, won five races from 1600 to 1800 metres, including a Gr.3 and three Listed events. Calyxa also placed in the Gr.1 Premio Lydia Tesio, Premio Vittorio di Capua and Grosser Dallmayr Preis, establishing herself as a high-class performer across Germany and Italy.

Alongside Calyxa, Chantra produced the stakes-placed Clear For Take Off, six-time winner Cracksking and dual winner Chagall. Her record gives this colt a grandam with both black-type credentials of her own and a productive record at stud.

THIRD DAM: CHALKIDIKI

A daughter of Nebos, Chalkidiki won twice over 1500 and 1600 metres in Germany and earned multiple Listed placings. She went on to produce eight winners from ten runners, establishing a successful branch of this European family.

Her progeny include Cheirokratie, Germany’s Champion Two-Year-Old Colt in 2000, whose seven victories included the Gr.3 Preis des Winterfavoriten. She also produced dual Listed winner Chantra and Listed winner Charismatique, alongside stakes performers Cherub and Chrisiida.

Chalkidiki’s influence provides further depth to the pedigree through a combination of juvenile excellence, stakes-winning daughters and consistent production of winners. The presence of a champion two-year-old in this generation adds another source of early ability to a family whose achievements also extend into mature racing careers.

PEDIGREE ANALYSIS

This colt combines Zoustar’s Northern Meteor–Redoute’s Choice background with the Soldier Hollow–Lando influence of Clear For Take Off. The central attraction is the pairing of an elite Australian speed sire with a stakes-placed European mare whose family has demonstrated ability from two-year-old racing through to middle distances.

Zoustar supplies a proven record of producing high-class sprinters and milers, while Clear For Take Off contributes her own juvenile success and winning form to 2200 metres. The influence of In the Wings through Soldier Hollow, together with Lando and Acatenango further back, adds an established European middle-distance dimension to the mating.

On pedigree, he offers the potential to show ability at two while continuing to strengthen and develop at three and beyond. A progression from sprint distances towards a mile is an appealing possibility, with his maternal background suggesting scope to explore further as he matures.

Personally selected by Jason Micallef and BOBS eligible, this colt represents an exciting addition to the Monarch Racing team: a son of a champion sire, out of a stakes-performed mare, with quality and winning performance running through his maternal family.
