OVERVIEW

Monarch Racing Syndications are delighted to present this blueblood beauty of a colt by first season stallion on the rise, Noverre. A Group One winning son of Champion Savabeel out of Folies Bergere (O’Rilley), a wonderful producer, having 5 runners for 5 winners. He was purchased at the prestigious New Zealand Karaka Ready to Run Sale, and he is, to put it simply, what quality looks like. A sale that has produced many champions of the turf, including Mr. Brightside, War Machine, and Ceolwulf, to name only a few. The SAVABEEL-O’REILLY cross will catch the attention of the pedigree purists, with 190 individual winners evolving from this breeding strategy. It is proven at the Group 1 level with 10 individual winners that include MO’UNGA, MAJOR BEEL, DIADEME, EMBELLISH, and ORCHESTRAL.

SIRE: NOVERRE

The handsome Noverre joined a long list of outstanding horses to have won the Gr.1 New Zealand 2000 Guineas and what a great turn of foot he showed that day – getting back to the rear from a wide gate, finding trouble on two occasions before really putting in the big strides.

At his previous start also striking interference, Noverre was just as explosive taking out the Gr.3 War Decree Stakes and he impressed everyone connected with him – jockey  Opie Bosson describing him as “a class animal” whilst trainer Jamie Richards said that “he is pretty special.”

Quickly secured by Waikato Stud to join their illustrious roster, Noverre certainly has all the credentials to make it at stud being an $800,000 yearling by the superstar stallion Savabeel (115 stakes winners including 35 Gr.1 winners) out of the Gr.3 winner Magic Dancer whose dam Dazzling Belle won twice at stakes level.

Siring types with his own class and style, Noverre has proven very popular with buyers – his first yearlings fetching up to $310,000 at Karaka and $500,000 at the Magic Millions. They have landed in all the big stables including Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott, Michael Freedman and Annabel & Rob Archibald and it won’t be long before racegoers are cheering on his first winners.

DAM: FOLIES BERGERE

The well related Folies Bergere is a daughter of the two time New Zealand Horse Of The Year O’Reilly who not only did a great job at stud with 16 Gr.1 winners amongst his 96 stakes winners, but who is also excelling into the next generation.

As well as being grandsire of the world’s best sprinter Ka Ying Rising, O’Reilly is dam sire of 150 stakes winners, 31 of whom are Gr.1 winners including the star mare Pride Of Jenni.

Folies Bergere is one of his daughters doing a great job with all five of her foals making it to the track and all being winners including 2 Stakes winners.

And better than average winners too – her first foal Cheval Valiant a millionaire Hong Kong based galloper who won four races including his finale at Shatin in June.

Her second foal Red Sun has performed consistently in Singapore and Malaysia, also winning four times whilst her third Khanshe – who has just recently been in flying form at the trials – has won three of her first 13 starts including the Listed Oaks Prelude in which she was particularly tough after striking interference. She recently won the Phar Lap Trophy Group 3 at Trentham NZ.

Folies Bergere’s four-year-old is the lightly raced winner Vanish whilst her three-year-old Circus Dancer created a big impression recording an easy debut victory at New Plymouth in late October. Circus Dancer at her second start won the listed Wanganui O’Leary stakes.

SECOND DAM: DASHING DONNA

This is a family not only of class but also of soundness and durability with Folies Bergere’s talented dam Dashing Donna performing consistently over four seasons.

A debut winner and stakes placed at just her second start, the daughter of the regally bred AJC Derby winner Don Eduardo (son of the mighty Eight Carat’s Gr.1 daughter Diamond Lover)rarely put a hoof wrong during her 42 start career – winning seven races, filling the placings on a further nine occasions.

A Listed winner over 1200m (the report noting that she “sprouted wings”), Dashing Donna fared well in the best of company with a fast finishing second in the Gr.1 Railway Stakes.

Sadly she died young having produced just three foals.

THIRD DAM: EPIC PULSE

Another black-type performer from this prolific family, the stakes placed two time winner Epic Pulse boasted a 100% strike rate as a broodmare with all six of her runners being winners. And she was one of the four winners for Pure Pulse, a half-sister to the dual Gr.2 winner Pure Luck from the family of the Gr.1 gallopers Otematata, Nushka and Corroboree.

PEDIGREE ANALYSIS

This handsome colt, who has inherited the lovely dark coat of his grandam via those great Eight Carat genes, is bred on a 3 X 4 cross of the great Zabeel.

The sire of Savabeel and Don Eduardo, the Australian Guineas winning superstar stallion has proven his value as a line-breeding subject with 18 stakes winners boasting a cross including the Gr.1 horses Aeliana, La Dorada, Femminile, Maison Louis, Pinot, Pierata and the recent impressive VRC Oaks winner Strictly Business.

Multiple strains of one of Northern Dancer’s finest sons in Nureyev are also desirable, especially when supported by the presence of that stallion’s high achieving 3/4 brother Sadler’s Wells whose multiple Gr.1 winning grandson Rip Van Winkle is Noverre’s dam sire.

The result is a 6 X 7 X 7 X 7 cross of the wonderful mare Special, noting that this Sadler’s Wells/Nureyev combination is one of the best there is… 1456 stakes winners, 223 Gr.1 winners including Verry Elleegant, Dundeel and Pierro.

Also exciting about this colt’s pedigree is that he carries further strains of the great Rough Shod family from which Special hails…  Val de Loir and Lorenzaccio.

As well as multiple strains of the Lady Josephine family (Aristophanes, Mahmoud, Royal Charger, Migoli, Jambo, Fair Trial and Nasrullah) from which Don Eduardo hails.

He also boasts considerable Marchetta and Queen Mary family influence (two legendary matriarchs) whist his dam’s strain of Faringdon is really going to complement Savabeel’s strains of his high class full brothers Todman and Noholme.
