OVERVIEW

Monarch Racing is proud to present this beautifully bred colt by six-time Gr.1 winner Dundeel, out of the stakes-placed Fastnet Rock mare Panna Cotta. Presented by Segenhoe Stud as Lot 655 at the 2026 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, he brings together Dundeel’s Classic quality and a maternal family rich in two-year-old speed and black-type performance. His mother was a Sydney metropolitan winner at two and is a full sister to Gr.3 winner Serene Majesty, while his grandam Custard has produced three individual stakes winners. His half-sister Zumbo also demonstrated the family’s early ability, winning twice at two. On pedigree, this colt offers an appealing blend of juvenile potential and the scope to develop into a quality three-year-old over a mile and beyond. He presents an exciting opportunity to join Monarch Racing in ownership of a colt with depth on both sides of his pedigree.

SIRE: DUNDEEL

A son of High Chaparral out of the Zabeel mare Stareel, Dundeel was an outstanding racehorse whose six Gr.1 victories showcased his class and versatility. His three-year-old campaign included the Randwick Guineas, Rosehill Guineas and Australian Derby, before he capped his career with victory in the prestigious Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

Standing at Arrowfield Stud, Dundeel has established himself as a leading source of elite racehorses, with 10 individual Gr.1 winners. His progeny include Militarize, Castelvecchio, Super Seth and Celestial Legend, demonstrating his ability to produce top-class juveniles and milers alongside Classic performers. His sons Castelvecchio and Super Seth have also become Gr.1-producing stallions, adding another dimension to his growing influence. For this colt, Dundeel contributes a compelling record of performance at the highest level and the potential for improvement with maturity.

DAM: PANNA COTTA

A daughter of Fastnet Rock, Panna Cotta demonstrated early talent with a Sydney metropolitan victory over 1100 metres at two. She also finished third in the Listed Woodlands Stakes at Scone and fourth in the Listed Bill Carter Stakes, establishing her credentials against stakes company during her juvenile season.

Panna Cotta is a full sister to Gr.3 winner Serene Majesty, a half-sister to stakes winners Ducasse and Curdled, and a three-quarter sister to the stakes-placed Brulee. This colt is her fourth foal. Her daughter Zumbo, by Zoustar, recorded two wins over 1000 metres at two from only four starts in the supplied catalogue, while her Deep Field gelding City Gold Field was also placed. Her own juvenile performance and the early success of Zumbo provide an attractive speed influence to complement Dundeel.

SECOND DAM: CUSTARD

By Lonhro, Custard was herself a stakes-winning two-year-old, taking the Listed Oaklands Plate over 1507 metres. She has carried that ability into the breeding barn, with six winners from eight runners recorded in the catalogue, including three individual stakes winners.

Her daughter Serene Majesty won the Gr.3 Thoroughbred Club Stakes and Listed Scone Inglis 3YO Guineas, and subsequently produced the stakes-placed President and California Surreal. Custard’s son Ducasse won the Gr.3 Carbine Club Stakes at Randwick and placed in the Gr.2 Callander-Presnell Stakes, while Curdled won the Listed Winning Edge Stakes at two. With stakes performers by several different stallions, Custard provides a strong foundation of proven maternal quality.

THIRD DAM: SERENE LOOK

A daughter of Seattle Dancer, Serene Look won three races over 1200 metres, including a victory at two, and was Listed placed at Flemington. She produced nine winners from 11 named foals, headed by stakes winners Custard and Russian Caravan.

Her daughter Angelic Smile produced Gr.2-winning juvenile Fravashi and Gr.3 winner Pure Joy, and is grandam of Gr.2 winners A‘Egon and Stretan Angel. The latter also finished second in the Gr.1 Lightning Stakes. Serene Look is additionally a half-sister to Breyani, dam of Tarascon and Mister Monet. This is a productive family whose success extends across generations, with juvenile speed, sprinting quality and middle-distance performance all represented.

PEDIGREE ANALYSIS

This colt combines Dundeel’s High Chaparral–Zabeel background with the Fastnet Rock–Lonhro influence of Panna Cotta. The appeal lies in pairing a sire proven at producing elite milers and Classic horses with a dam and grandam who both won at two.

A notable feature is the 3 x 5 duplication of Zabeel, appearing through Dundeel’s dam Stareel and through Octagonal, the sire of Lonhro, on the maternal side. Northern Dancer also appears through several branches, including Sadler’s Wells and Danehill. These connections give the pedigree depth, while the immediate family’s racecourse record provides the clearest evidence of its quality.

Dundeel has already produced stakes winners from Fastnet Rock mares, adding support to the mating. Taken together, this pedigree suggests an appealing prospect to develop with time, with maternal speed complementing the potential to perform over a mile and further as he matures.
