OVERVIEW
Monarch Racing Syndications is proud to present a powerful Ardrossan Filly. She has power, a huge girth, a walk and movement that had her rated as our best filly on grounds (Book 1 & 2) with a two moon rating by our Bloodstock Agents, Paul Moroney & Catheryne Bruggeman, you simply cannot rate higher in our system on type and confirmation. Ardrossan is sire of tough and stakes winning horses such as Beau Dazzler G2 winner (Whom Paul & Catheryne selected as a yearling), Saltcoats, Yaldi & Ardalo. She presents a class opportunity to be apart of a 1400m plus prospect, late 2yo type with the world at her hooves. Genuine quality and class. To be trained by Group 1 winning trainer and stallion maker Richard Litt, Warwick Farm NSW. We have nominated her for Karaka Millions Race Series in New Zealand. She is a horse for real racing purists and we look forward to welcoming new and current race partners in racing this filly together.
SIRE: ARDROSSAN
One of the 43 sons of the great Redoute’s Choice to sire stakes winners, Ardrossan has been somewhat of a quiet achiever – doing the job without the support of big books and proving to be a strong upgrader. His impressive statistics certainly tell the story, Ardrossan siring seven stakes winners amongst his first 45 winners from just 93 starters. His 7.5% stakes winner to runner ratio puts many popular stallions to shame! Yaldi, Ardalio and Beau Dazzler have all done a great job recording smart victories at Group level whilst Codigo, De Armas, Loch Katrine and Saltcoats have been impressive Listed winners. Another six of Ardrossan’s progeny (noting that his oldest runners are only five so there is plenty more to come) are stakes placed; giving him a 14% stakes horse to runners strike rate. And a further 13 of his runners have won at metropolitan level… meaning that 57.7% of his winners are at least city class! There is no fluke about this performance with Ardrossan ticking all the boxes as a stallion prospect. His sire Redoute’s Choice was crowned Australian Champion Sire on three occasions – and his sire Danehill a record breaking nine times. He is a 3/4 brother to the star galloper Incentivize with his fast stakes placed dam Miss Argyle (by Written Tycoon’s sire Iglesia) also producing the stakes winners Bergerac and Cheyenne Warrior. Ardrossan had plenty of the family talent, winning four of his nine starts. Unbeaten at two in New Zealand – winning a Listed race by 3 3/4 lengths – he enhanced his record at four by taking out the Gr.3 Concorde Handicap at Ellerslie prior to a gallant and close up Gr.1 third in the BCD Sprint at Te Rapa – only just beaten by the wonderful mare Melody Belle. He had his final start in Australia, a game third in the Gr.3 Star Kingdom Stakes at Rosehill – retiring to Waikato Stud.
DAM: MADAM CHARM
Heading to Australia after showing talent at the trials in New Zealand, Madam Charm raced eight times for the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace stable – showing good pace to win consecutive races over 1500m and 1600m at Hawkesbury and Kembla Grange. She is a daughter of Invincible Spirit’s high class son Charm Spirit, the multiple Gr.1 winning miler who has done a fine job at stud with the Gr.1 gallopers Shaquille and Globe amongst his 19 stakes winners. It is still early days for him as a broodmare sire but his daughters have already produced 44 winners from 83 runners including the stakes winner Havana Ball and three stakes placed winners. He has the pedigree to be a great influence in this department – his sire’s daughters represented by 74 stakes winners including nine Gr.1 horses and he hails from one of the best families in the stud book; one which has fared well in this part of the world via the deeds of Encosta de Lago and Flying Spur.
SECOND DAM: ZABLONDE
An odds-on favourite when racing away by 4 3/4 lengths to break her maiden over 1800m, Zablonde did not always have the best of luck but there was certainly talent there. And she passed that on to her progeny with all four of her foals being winners including the Darwin Gold Cup winner Folk Tales and the Hong Kong winner Penzance. Zablonde is a daughter of Sir Tristram’s legendary son Zabeel who earned four New Zealand Champion Sire titles and two in Australia. An outstanding influence as a sire, he also excelled as a broodmare sire with 48 Gr.1 winners amongst the 251 stakes winners produced by his daughters.
THIRD DAM: FOXY BLONDE
The winner of six races between 1200m and 1600m, Foxy Blonde put on display her excellent turn of foot when taking out the Listed James Hazlett Stakes at Wingatui (flashing past her rivals to win by 2 1/4 lengths) and the Gr.3 White Robe Lodge Handicap at that same track (going to the line with plenty in hand). Doing a good job at stud with six winners amongst her seven runners, Foxy Blonde is by the six time Champion New Zealand sire Volksraad – the wonderful Green Desert horse who continues to leave his mark with his daughters producing 53 stakes winners including 12 Gr.1 winners. Foxy Blonde is one of the nine winners produced by the Kaapstad mare Platinum Blond, also dam of the Gr.1 placed Gr.3 winner Entirely Platinum. This is a prolific Gr.1 family – its members successful at the elite level including Penny Gem, Ivory’s Irish, Hit The Roof, Brawny Spirit, Joker’s Wild, Overreach, Razor Sharp, Alynda, Global News, Super Elegant, Regal Cheer, Apercu, Turffontein, Reward For Effort, Able Friend, Precious Gem, Miss Mossman, Streets Of Avalon and the exciting Briasa.
PEDIGREE ANALYSIS
Redoute’s Choice and Green Desert have proven to have a nice affinity – and this filly’s dam is bred on a 3 X 4 cross of Green Desert. The two high achieving stallions (both bred on a Danzig/Sir Ivor cross) have combined in the pedigrees of 92 stakes winners including the Gr.1 gallopers Treasurethe Moment, Mr Quickie, Ole Dancer, Vinrock, Starlust, Maison Louis, Linebacker, Pulchritudinous and Prompt Response. Green Desert also loves strains of his Kentucky Derby winning relation (fellow descendant of the stakes winner Betty Derr) – the dam sire of Ardrossan’s third dam sire Head Over Heels. This Green Desert/Swaps combo has produced 125 stakes winners; 12 Gr.1 winners including Nature Strip, Magic Time and Wellington. As a bonus Ardrossan also carries a strain of Swaps’ close relation Reverse; making him the ideal stallion for a mare line-bred to Green Desert. Redoute’s Choice is a son of the great Danehill – a horse bred on a 3 X 3 cross of his own third dam Natalma, dam of Northern Dancer. Natalma and her dam Almahmoud are proven high class line.
