Monarch Racing Syndications is proud to present this Adonis of a colt by Group 1-winning sire CAPTIVANT (by Capitalist) out of three-time-winning mare MISS CHAPARRAL (by High Chaparral). He is in the mould of his sire with his smouldering attractiveness, and looks a precocious, strong, ready-made racehorse. We simply had to have him and were delighted to get him at a very good price.

His sire CAPTIVANT is a son of rising star stallion CAPITALIST. He was a sprinter-miler and a Group 1-winning two-year-old taking out the ATC Champagne Stakes over 1600m. He was also sharp enough as a pre-Christmas two-year-old to win the Victory Vein Plate over 1000m. He battled against the best, with one of his standout runs as a three-year-old being against the mighty Anamoe in the Caulfield Guineas over 1600m, where he ran 2nd and had horses such as Hitotsu, Artorius and Tiger Of Malay finish behind him. This colt is from his first crop of yearlings and there are high hopes for CAPTIVANT in the breeding barn.

His dam MISS CHAPARRAL won three races over 1170m to 1660m and is a half-sister to Listed winner GREEN ROLLER. She is from a family of good producers who know how to win, with more than a pinch of two-year-old form.

Through the second dam, GIVEN, who produced eight foals to race for seven winners, this colt is related to UGO FOSCOLO, the top New Zealand 3yo Male of 2015-16 over 1200m to 1600m, who won the Group 1 New Zealand Two Thousand Guineas over 1600m as well as Group 2, Group 3 and Listed races, and won twice as a two-year-old, and GET IN THE SPIRIT, a Listed two-year-old winner of the VRC Maribyrnong Plate over 1000m.

The third dam MAD DESIRE had seven foals to race for six winners and throws up more Group and Listed winners over 1000m to 1500m, most notably Australian Group 3 winner VAGRANT, who won five races over 1200m to 1400m and was a two-year-old winner, and Australian Listed winner SANS DOUTE, a winner of seven races over 1000m to 1215m.

Delving deeper into the family, you will also find multiple Group 1 winner ACCOMPLICE, who won the Group 1 Galaxy over 1100m and the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 over 1200m, two-year-old Black Opal winner YOU’RE CANNY, Group 3 winner over 1400m TECHNIQUES and Group 3 winner over 1200m ALERT ME.

There is plenty of speed in this colt’s family, with 1100m to 1600m looking strong. He is a well-bodied, strong-looking, handsome colt just like his sire, with a lovely striding action and a ready-made look about him. Based on his breeding and size, we think he has the potential to get up and run as an early to mid-two-year-old. He is eligible for the Inglis Race Series, including the $2 million Inglis Millennium for two-year-olds, and the BOBS Bonus Scheme, which is paid out on all NSW racetracks adding a payment of up to $20,000 for each win as a two and three-year-old.

He will be trained by multiple Group 1-winning trainer and stallion maker Richard Litt at Warwick Farm, who’s successes include training rising star stallion Castelvecchio to win two Group 1 races, as well as a memorable 2nd in the 2019 Cox Plate, and Profondo who won the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes at only his third start.
